Enabling Membership Flowdown for Households

Enabling membership flow down for households allows members of a household to individually receive membership benefits as a result of the household's membership in an organization.

Enabling membership flow down for a household involves enabling the member type to support membership flow down as well as enabling the relationship type the individual has with the household to use membership flow down functionality.

Enabling Membership Flow Down for Households

Enabling membership flow down for households requires two tasks to be completed. First the member type for the membership purchased by the household must be enabled to support membership flow down. Second, the relationship types that will receive membership flow down from the household must be enabled to also support this functionality.

Enabling the Member Type to Support Membership Flow Down

Enabling a member type to support membership flow down can be done at the time of member type creation, or by editing the member type after it is created.

To enable a member type to support membership flow down, complete the following steps:

Note: This example will use a member type that is already created to show the steps necessary to enable a member type to support membership flow down. To enable a new member type for membership flow down, complete the steps outlined in the Adding a Member Type help topic.

  1. Expand the Module Menu and click the Membership hyperlink to open the Membership module.
  2. Click the Member Types group item to view the list of available group item links.
  3. Click the List Member Types group item link.The List - Member Type page opens.
  4. Locate the member type you wish to configure to support membership flow down.
  5. Click the GoTo icon next to the member type's name on the List - Member Type page.The Member Type Profile page appears.
  6. Click the Edit button located in the top portion of the Member Type Profile.The Edit - Member Type pop-up window appears.
  7. Click the receives member benefits check box, if it is not already checked.
  8. Click the benefit flow down check box, if it is not already checked.
  9. Click the Save button.The member type is now set up to allow for membership flow down.

Enabling the Relationship Type to Support Membership Flow Down

Enabling a relationship type to support membership flow down can be done at the time of relationship type creation, or by editing the relationship type after it is created.

To enable a relationship type to support membership flow down, complete the following steps:

Note: This example will use a relationship type that is already created to show the steps necessary to enable a relationship type to support membership flow down. To enable a new relationship type for membership flow down, complete the steps outlined in the Adding a Relationship Type help topic.

  1. Expand the Module Menu and click the CRM hyperlink to open the CRM module.
  2. Click the Overview group item to view the list of available group item links.
  3. Click the Customer Setup group item link.The Customer Setup page opens.
  4. Click the Relationship tab.
  5. Expand the relationship type child form.
  6. Locate the relationship type you wish to configure to support membership flow down.
  7. Click the Edit icon next to the member type's name on the relationship type child form.The Edit - Relationship Type pop-up window appears.
  8. Click the membership flow down? check box if it is not already checked.
  9. Click the Save button.The relationshp type is now set up to allow for membership flow down.  The relationship type child form will update and the value in the Membership Flow Down column on the relationship type child form will switch to Yes.
